Visit our studios

We welcome people to come and visit us before joining. Seeing the studios in person is the best way to understand how a studio works and whether it’s the right fit for you.

Throughout the year we open our doors for talks and studio sales, which are a great opportunity to meet members and staff and see the studios. Details of upcoming events can be found on our events page and on Instagram.

If you’re interested in visiting outside of these events, we offer two options:

Studio Visit

If you’re thinking about becoming a member or joining one of our classes, you’re welcome to arrange a short visit to one of our studios.

A studio manager will show you around, explain how the studio works, and answer any general questions you may have. Visits usually last around 5-10 minutes and are arranged at a mutually convenient time.

Studio Tour & Conversation

For those who would like a more in-depth introduction to The Kiln Rooms, we also offer a one-hour guided visit across all three of our Peckham studios.

Led by one of our Studio Managers, the tour provides a chance to see the different spaces, understand how the studios operate, and get a broader sense of our community. The visit finishes with a drink in one of the studios, giving you time for a relaxed conversation and the opportunity to ask questions.

What does the tour & conversation comprise of?

This session is designed to be open and informal. Depending on your interests the conversation might include:

  • how The Kiln Rooms works day to day
  • what it’s like to be a member
  • studio practice and workflow
  • clay bodies, materials, glazes and firing processes
  • developing your work as a studio potter
  • selling work and routes to market
  • navigating life as a maker

While this isn’t a technical consultation or business mentoring session, it’s an opportunity to spend time with an experienced maker who has worked within The Kiln Rooms for many years and has supported a wide range of ceramic artists at different stages of their practice.

Booking studio tour & conversation

The session is suitable for up to four people, making it a good option for friends or colleagues who would like to visit together. Larger groups may be accommodated by arrangement at an additional cost. To book, email info@thekilnrooms.com
