The Kiln Rooms Development Programme

Our Development Programme is designed to provide ceramicists with the education, experience, and opportunities necessary to sustain successful careers in ceramics.

Supporting our community and making ceramics more inclusive and accessible is at the heart of what we do! Our Development Programme supports all skill levels and goals, focusing on providing experience, education and connection. Check out what we get up to, including ways you can get involved below…

Who’s it for: Everyone is welcome!

Learning from others goes hand in hand with developing an individual ceramics practice.

Our programme of talks and events ensures that everyone can benefit from social, educational and inspirational events. All are free to attend, making access to supplementary ceramics education and our supportive community as open as possible.

members sales

Who’s it for? Members and staff are invited to take part, everyone is welcome to visit

Our bi-annual sales provide members and staff with support in selling their creations in an open studio environment, amongst their fellow makers. We run one summer and one winter sale, each requiring a considerable, communal team effort, meaning members and staff also get first hand experience in the set up and running of these events.

Our professional development runs through the sales with pricing guidance, curatorial support and promotional tools for each maker.

work exchange

Who’s it for? Any early career ceramicists with an existing understanding of how a ceramics studio works.

For those who are at an early career stage with their practice, we offer a Work Exchange programme, providing studio 24/7 access to a communal studio space in exchange for 7 hours of work in one of our studios, advancing technical studio skills whilst developing their creative practice.

Those joining the Work Exchange can stay up to 2 years on the programme, meaning we will have a steady turnover of spaces we can offer to new and eager makers.
