Terms & Conditions: Classes
Covid-19: As this is a constantly changing situation the latest updates with regards to classes can be found here. Classes which are postponed due to restrictions will be rescheduled. If you cannot attend the rescheduled classes you will be given the option of alternative studio access, credit for future classes or a refund.
March 2021 update: all those signed up for classes which have been rescheduled for April / May have been contacted via email. Refunds are available up to 9 days before the start of the rescheduled classes, 8 days prior to the classes resuming refunds will not be available and people will be booked in.
Non-attendance: In the event of non-attendance or arriving late to classes it is not possible to provide alternative studio time, or for a class to be rescheduled. Classes are at fixed times to cover the cost of tuition. We run at full capacity so it is not possible to swap classes or use the studio outside of the allotted class times to ‘catch up’.
Refunds: 20 days or more before the start date of a course or session we can provide a full refund (minus a £5 booking fee). Between 20 and 10 days prior to the start of a course or session we will refund 50% of the total fees paid (minus a £5 booking fee). We provide NO refunds 9 days before the start date of the course or session. Once the course begins there are no refunds.
Payment: We take bookings either through Go Cardless, or Bookwhen. If you are uncomfortable about using these we can send our bank details for a transfer to be made. All prices on our website include VAT and booking fees. Courses and classes are transferable before the start date but it is not possible to share a block of classes with another person. Any questions regarding this please get in touch.
Clay / glaze / firing costs: Taster sessions / courses: All materials costs are part of the session / course fees, therefore there will be no additional costs. 12 week courses: addition to class fees materials will be charged at £2.50 per 500g of fired pot (e.g, about £1 for a teacup). Pots should be paid for on collection (cash only). Private sessions / hires: Unless stated otherwise materials and firing costs are included in the cost of hire. We fire between 2-4 pieces per person which will be ready to collect from the studio approximately 3 weeks after the session.
Coronavirus: In the event that we had to close the studios: One-off sessions and taster courses would be rescheduled at a later date. If you would not be able to attend the rescheduled class(es) you will receive a full refund and be given priority booking on future classes. 12 week courses will still be 12 weeks long but if we had to close the studios we would ‘pause’ the course you are on so that you wouldn’t lose out. If the rescheduled dates don’t suit you we could either provide a refund for missed classes or offer alternative access times. Update on changes brought in to combat Coronavirus: link
Collecting work: Taster sessions / courses: You will receive an email informing you when the work is ready for collection (generally 3 weeks after a taster session and 2 weeks after the final class on a 4 week course). From the date of this email you will have 14 days to collect your work. We cannot guarantee that work won’t be damaged in the kiln or not survive a firing. 12 week courses: Work made must be taken within 21 days after the final session. Please make arrangements with your teacher. Any unfinished work at the end of the block may be thrown out, unless a request is made to keep it. Any work damaged during the firing process is not the responsibility of The Kiln Rooms and any work remaining in the studio after the above cut off times will be thrown out. We estimate 2-3 weeks for work to be fired, however work extremely hard to turnaround work in 5-10 days.
12 week courses renewal: 6 weeks into a course everyone enrolled will be asked if they would like to continue once that block comes to an end and will have priority booking on the following course.
Disabilities If you have a disability please let us know before you arrive to the first class. We can accommodate pretty much any disability but it’s always good to know in advance so that we can be fully prepared.
