Terms & Conditions: Classes

Non-attendance: In the event of non-attendance or arriving late to classes it is not possible to provide alternative studio time, or for a class to be rescheduled. Classes are at fixed times to cover the cost of tuition. We run at full capacity so it is not possible to swap classes or use the studio outside of the allotted class times to ‘catch up’.

Refunds: 20 days or more before the start date of a course or session we can provide a full refund (minus a £5 booking fee). Between 20 and 10 days prior to the start of a course or session we will refund 50% of the total fees paid (minus a £5 booking fee). We provide NO refunds 9 days before the start date of the course or session. Once the course begins there are no refunds.

Payment: We take bookings through ‘Bookwhen’. If you are uncomfortable about using this platform we can send our bank details for a transfer to be made or can accept cash. All prices on our website include VAT and booking fees. Courses and classes are transferable before the start date but it is not possible to share a block of classes with another person. Any questions regarding this please email info@thekilnrooms.com.

Clay / glaze / firing costs: Taster sessions / 5 week taster courses: All materials costs are part of the session / course fees, therefore there will be no additional costs.

12 week courses: addition to class fees materials will be charged at £2.50 per 500g of fired pot for the white stoneware clay (e.g, about £1 for a teacup). For porcelain/crank/vulcan clays, these clays cost £10 per 1kg of fired pot.  Pots should be paid for on collection.

Private sessions / hires: Unless stated otherwise materials and firing costs are included in the cost of hire. We fire 3-4 pieces per person which will be ready to collect from the studio approximately 3-4 weeks after the session.

Collecting work: Taster sessions / courses: You will receive an email informing you when the work is ready for collection (generally 3-4 weeks after a taster session and 2-3 weeks after the final class on a 5 week course). From the date of this email you will have 21 days to collect your work.  If you’re unable to collect within this timeframe, we can extend the collection period by another 2 weeks if specifically asked and/or we can arrange a specific collection date with you.  We cannot guarantee that work won’t be damaged in the kiln or not survive a firing. 12 week courses: Work made must be taken within 21 days after the final session. Please make arrangements with your teacher. Any unfinished work at the end of the block may be thrown out, unless a request is made to keep it.   Any work damaged during the firing process is not the responsibility of The Kiln Rooms and any work remaining in the studio after the above cut off times will be thrown out. We estimate 2-3 weeks for work to be fired, however work extremely hard to turnaround work in 5-10 days.

In summer during a heatwave it’s possible that we reduce and stagger firings to keep the studios as temperate and comfortable for users as possible. During these times it’s possible that work is slower to be fired than usual. If/when this happens it will be communicated via email.

12 week courses renewal: 6 weeks into a course everyone enrolled will be asked if they would like to continue once that block comes to an end and will have priority booking on the following course.

Positive Covid result:

One-off taster session: In the event of a positive PCR or LF test in the days prior to the taster session you have booked please send an email to info@thekilnrooms.com with the registered test result. We will do our best to find someone to take your space. We will also ask the person who’s tested positive to see if they have a friend who would like to take the space, so that it doesn’t go to waste. In the event of us not being able to find someone to take the space we will be able to transfer the booking to a future date for a £20 admin fee.

Disabilities If you have a disability please let us know before you arrive to the first class. We can accommodate many disabilities but it’s good to know in advance so that we can be fully prepared.
