I caught the ‘ceramics bug’ many years ago but life has taken me in a different direction. I came back to it 4 years ago, studying at Morley College under the tuition of Annette Welch.
I make hand build pieces of a decorative nature, combining different clays, richly decorated in layers of slips, glazes and lustres. The inspiration invariably comes from my love of the natural world, especially awe provoking volcanic landscape of Island.
I also celebrate my modest but fantastically wild, London garden by incorporating its plants into my work. I also produce smaller, more utilitarian pieces, namely holders for indoor plants.
The method I adopted always holds the element of surprise when the final piece is revealed. I hope never to loose that sense of wonder!
